A Solstice Reflection: Stepping into the Light

A Solstice Reflection: Stepping into the Light

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” – Anaïs Nin

The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year — a radiant threshold where light stretches to its full glory before gently beginning to recede. For some, it’s a seasonal shift. For others — like me — it’s sacred. A portal. A mirror. A birthday.

Born on the cusp where Gemini flirts with Cancer, I’ve always felt the Solstice not just in the sun above, but in my bones. I come alive in summer. I bloom here.

The Light of Becoming✨

The Solstice is more than sunlight — it’s the call to illuminate all that has remained hidden. The cosmic invitation to release what no longer serves and step boldly into what’s been waiting for you.

For me, this year feels like a deep exhale after holding my breath for far too long. After navigating grief, loss, and the endless, sacred labor of inner work, I feel ready to begin again. Not as a version of who I once was — but as who I was always meant to become.

To me, the light isn’t just a metaphor. It’s what I’ve been crawling toward, clawing toward, healing toward. And now, I’m ready to meet it.

Water as Renewal✨

I’ve always honored this time of year by placing myself near water — the ocean, a lake, a gentle stream. Water is memory. Water is movement. Water receives what we’re ready to release and sends it back cleansed.

Every year, I use the Solstice as a ritual of letting go. I whisper old stories to the sea. I let the waves carry grief I no longer wish to hold. And when I emerge, I feel new. Or maybe — finally — true.

Water teaches us that healing isn’t always loud. It happens in flow, in surrender, in soft courage. This year, I offer the past 35 years of my life to the tides — and I trust what remains will be gold.

A Soundtrack of my Life✨

It’s no accident that the Solstice in France is also La Fête de la Musique — a nationwide celebration of song. For me, music has always been medicine.

It is prayer, it is power, it is presence.

My playlists are a kaleidoscope of who I am: from Debussy to Daft Punk, from the romance of 1940s jazz to the soulful echoes of Hozier. Music lets me shapeshift, feel deeply, move freely. It carries me back to myself when words fall short.

Music and summer are intertwined in my heart — both lit by feeling, both born of freedom. And every year, the Solstice becomes a symphony I get to write anew.

Setting Intentions✨

This Solstice, I’m choosing wholeness. I’m letting go of timelines, of should's, of the smallness I once settled for in myself. I am choosing to begin again — not because life is asking me to, but because my heart and soul are ready.

My birthday wish this year isn’t for something outside myself. It’s for the strength to keep walking toward my own light. To trust in the sacred timing of it all, even with the path ahead unclear. To live as authentically as possible, and love even more deeply.

If you’ve been holding something heavy, this is your invitation too. Step into the longest day of the year. Let it bless you. Let it burn away what’s old. Let it show you that you, too, are sacred, divine, and worthy of it all.
