Curating Your Self-Love Altar

Curating Your Self-Love Altar

WHAT ARE ALTARS?

Altars are a way of focusing our energy and devotion upon something. By creating a space of intention for that which we are putting our attention on, we truly begin to build a powerful momentum of energy through the practice of making offerings, lighting candles and refreshing our altar space on a regular basis.

By devoting our altar to our dedication of self-love, by consistent acknowledgement and honoring of ourselves through the lens of Divine love, we can begin to find the Divinity of Source within ourselves. In making this a regular practice, we allow ourselves to deepen our love for all creation on a multidimensional, Universal level, strengthening our bond and gratitude for ourselves and all that is.

 THE SET-UP

Begin by clearing off and creating an intentional space in your home that you can set up your altar on. Clear away any clutter, dust or distractions, and energetically cleanse your altar space. Invite your Spirit Guides in to connect with you, to bless the space, and acknowledge the unconditional love and presence they provide to you.

*Note of importance: Do your best not to take the set-up too seriously. Infuse it with lightness and playfulness – the more you enjoy the process, the more likely you are to want to continue it! If it feels like work, the resistance will keep you from it.

✨🌟✨

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET YOUR ALTAR SPACE STARTED

GATHER:
  • An image of yourself that inspires you and allows you to feel confident, beautiful and empowered

  • Rose Quartz (as many or as few as you choose)

  • Flowers (any you find beautiful - I am privy to Roses, Hydrangeas or Peonies)

  • Coins, cash or a check written to yourself to draw in abundance

  • A candle to burn for building energy and creating a protective barrier (I prefer to use pink or white for this particular altar)

  • Sage, Palo Santo, Selenite or your favorite cleansing tool

Arrange in any way that intuitively feels good for you – if that’s just based off of a visual aesthetic, yes, that’s good enough! *Typically we may question whether setting up something “for the way it looks” can feel shallow or like it’s not right – but in the realm of altars and metaphysics, there is no wrong way – if you’re feeling drawn to setting things up in a particular way and it inspires you, chances are you are being intuitively guided, it’s just the ego-mind trying to interject and get in the way.

WRITE ON PAPER:

“I am worthy of abundant, unconditional self-love. I feel the waves of power and strength within me. I am all that I need.”

Feel free to also write yourself a love letter.

It is important to create an altar that ignites excitement and inspiration within you, which reminds you of how incredibly, Divinely perfect you are anytime you visit it.

Refresh it each week by bringing in flowers, love notes, additional crystals (suggested stones include: Morganite, Rhodochrosite, Pink Mangano Calcite, Emerald, Chrysoprase, Angelite, Selenite, Stilbite), herbs, rose petals, etc.

Let it serve as a constant reminder that it is important to take intentional moments to honor yourself for all that you are.

The more energy you consciously devote to your altar, the more attention you spend meditating within that space and prioritizing yourself and your connection to Self and Source, the stronger your momentum of self-love will grow.

I, too, enjoy the council of my spirit guides! Before I read this, I already had a little self-love alter. It’s not tidy though, so I should take your advice here and clean my desk today! Ha ha ha!

My favorite item on my alter is a little froggy who sits on a comfy chair reading a book. Makes sense, right? I’m a librarian…

What breakthroughs have I had when I brought my alter into my desk space? Hmm… I’m not sure. Interacting with my spirit guides has become so much a part of my life, that I don’t really notice the changes they bring to me anymore. I just “flow” with them more or less, as part of life.

Another great article. Keep ’em coming!
